What receipts does Odyssey accept?

Odyssey has one strict rule that trips up most families: it wants one itemized point-of-sale receipt that proves both the purchase and the payment. Not an invoice plus a separate screenshot — a single receipt with everything on it. Get that right and reimbursements go through; get it wrong and they bounce back.

What a valid Odyssey receipt must show

A single itemized point-of-sale receipt containing all of:

• The vendor/merchant name
• The transaction date
• An itemized list — each item and its price
• The total, including taxes and fees
• The payment method — for a card, the last four digits

The point is that one document proves the purchase happened and that you paid for it. That's what "proof of purchase and proof of payment in one" means.

What Odyssey does NOT accept

• Venmo, Zelle, PayPal or Cash App screenshots
• Bank or card statements
• Handwritten receipts
• Invoices or order confirmations without proof of payment
• Non-itemized (total-only) receipts
• Photos of checks

Why this rule exists (and why it's stricter than ClassWallet)

Programs on ClassWallet often accept an itemized receipt plus a separate proof of payment. Odyssey is stricter: it wants both facts on the same document. So a store invoice you paid by card needs to be the actual paid POS receipt showing the card's last four — not the invoice and a bank line separately.

How to make sure your receipt qualifies

1. Ask the cashier or checkout for the itemized receipt, not the summary slip.
2. Confirm it shows the payment method (card last four). If you paid cash, a receipt marked paid works; a check photo does not.
3. Photograph it immediately, before it fades or gets lost.
4. Check the item descriptions are clear — vague line items can trigger a request for more info.
5. Submit before your program's deadline. Reimbursements process in about 10 business days once approved and are final when paid.
