Mississippi's special-needs ESA is a reimbursement program: you pay first, then submit itemized receipts to get paid back from the account. That makes clean, complete receipts the difference between getting reimbursed and not.

How you spend

Parents pay for eligible expenses out of pocket and submit itemized receipts to the Department of Education to be reimbursed from the account, up to the annual maximum.

Award amount

The award was about $8,007 per student for 2025-26. Confirm the 2026-27 amount with the Department of Education. The program is appropriation-capped and can maintain a waitlist, so eligible families should apply early in the registration window.
