Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit: homeschool receipts
PCTC homeschool track · administered by the Oklahoma Tax Commission · last checked September 25, 2026.
Oklahoma's homeschool credit is unusual: the state requires you to submit itemized receipts with your claim (Form 591-D). It's not a wallet or a card — it's a receipt-and-prove tax credit, so the family that keeps clean receipts all year is the family that actually gets paid.
How it works
The PCTC homeschool track is a refundable tax credit, not a funded account. You pay for qualifying homeschool expenses during the year, keep the receipts, and claim the credit on Form 591-D — submitting itemized receipts as documentation.
Credit amount
Up to $1,000 per homeschool student per year, subject to a statewide annual cap. (The separate private-school track is income-tiered at $5,000–$7,500 and paid toward the school — that portion doesn't involve parent receipts.)
Why receipts matter here
Because the credit is claimed with documentation, a missing or non-itemized receipt can mean a denied or reduced credit. The state literally asks you to prove each expense — so the receipts you keep in, say, January have to survive until you file.
Qualifying expenses
- Curriculum and textbooks
- Instructional materials and supplies
- Tutoring services
- Other qualifying homeschool education expenses
Confirm the current qualifying-expense list and the annual credit cap with the Oklahoma Tax Commission before you file.
Keep a year of receipts ready to file
School Choice Tracker stores each itemized receipt with its photo the moment you buy, tags the child and category, and exports the whole year as a PDF and spreadsheet — so filing Form 591-D is just attaching what you already have. It stays on your phone.
