Be clear on how Hope works: most spending goes through the online portal directly to preapproved vendors — there's no debit card and no open reimbursement. But a limited reimbursement module exists, and when you use it the rules are strict: a detailed invoice plus a zero-balance receipt, submitted within 90 days.
How you spend
Purchases are made through the Hope Scholarship online portal as ACH payments to vendors, schools and providers the Board has preapproved. Reimbursements for out-of-pocket purchases are only allowed for the specific circumstances authorized by the Board's Reimbursement Policy — anything outside those is denied.

About $5,435.62 per student for 2026-27, deposited quarterly around August 15, October 15, January 15 and April 15.
The reimbursement module: the 90-day rule
When a reimbursement is allowed, the request must be submitted in the portal within 90 days of the purchase, and must include a detailed invoice clearly indicating the items purchased plus proof of payment such as a zero-balance receipt. Miss the 90 days and the claim is gone.

- Part-time public-school services
- Tutoring
- Standardized and AP exam fees
- Educational therapies
- Supplemental materials and textbooks
- Technology (with limits)
